A non-profit organization whose aims are to provide a means for sharing ideas, experiences, knowledge and common interests regarding fungi, and to furnish mycological information and educational materials to those who wish to increase their knowledge about mushrooms.

BRIEF ANNOUNCEMENTS

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Our next foray will be at Meadow Wood Park in Mendham, on Sunday, July 12, at 10:00 AM. In wet years, this has been one of our best forays of the season, so be sure to join us!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Don't forget to register for NJMA's Annual Victor Gambino Foray, which will be held at Kings Gap Environmental Center in Carlisle, PA from July 10-12. Our special guest will be the informative and ever-witty "amateur" mycologist Walt Sturgeon, one of the best identifiers known to us in the East. You can get a registration form by going to our Events page or in the May/June issue of our newsletter. For further information, contact Terri Layton at mycoterri@verizon.net.

NEW WEBSITE FEATURE: YOUR PHOTOS OF NEW JERSEY FUNGI

The NJMA website is now being updated to include photographs of the wide variety of fungi found in New Jersey. Click on the "Photo Pages (beta)" button on the left to enter the gallery. Current NJMA members are welcome to submit digital photos of fungus finds from our state. The goal is to provide a pictorial guide to fungi found in New Jersey. All submitted photos will be posted, provided that they follow a few simple guidelines. For the moment, we are calling this a "beta" page because it's in the setup stage, and we invite your feedback regarding its layout, usability, and content.

A special "thank you" goes out to Rob Robinson for setting up and maintaining
this section of our website.

NJMA EDUCATION CLASSES FOR 2009!

Once again, NJMA has been conducting a series of mushroom-related education classes for our members. The classes are currently running, and a few remain for which you can still register.
There is a registration form in the March/April issue of the NJMA News.

Please note that Glenn Boyd's class on the Fungal Tree of Life, scheduled for November 1, is a FREE class and is open to all who wish to attend (registration is not required for this class only!).
You can ignore the reference to a $10.00 fee as was shown on page 12 of the March/April issue of our newsletter.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Registration for NEMF 2009 at Cape Cod is now open. See our Events page for details.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The NJMA Yahoo! Group is now open and ready for you to share your mushrooming experiences and to exchange ideas. Go to http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/NJMYCO/ to use it. You'll need to obtain a Yahoo! user name and password before you can join the group. We reserve the right to delete postings in cases of misidentifications, "bad" information, or items that are in questionable taste or not on-topic about mycology.
