FUNGUS FEST
Fungus Fest, is NJMA's biggest in-person learning event. It is open to the general public and is held in September.
The year 2020 would have been Fungus Fest's 40th year. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, Fungus Fest was cancelled for 2020, 2021 and 2022. Our venue for this event, Frelinghuysen Arboretum, has only partially reopened a few days a week for non-profit use as of January 2023. Hundreds of people attend this event. They come to get their fungi identified, to buy from the event vendors, to eat the results of the mushroom cooking demonstration, to learn about medicinal mushrooms, poisonous mushrooms, paper making and mushroom dyes. Additional Fungus Fest features include an onsite outdoor Mushroom Walk, and a children's corner with activities. Last Updated: 2023.01.04 |
![]() Fungus Fest requires about 30-50 NJMA members to put on this general public event. Be sure to volunteer to help if you can by filling out the Contact Us form. There are tasks to do that do not require mushroom knowledge.
