NJMA is always interested in expanding our pool of volunteers that run the club behind the scenes. We currently have some openings and can always start training for other positions. If you are interested, please use the Contact Us form.
Volunteer Position |
Requirements |
Newsletter Editor |
[Open January 2024] The newsletter editor gathers/encourages others/or writes articles of interest to our members and passes the content to our graphic artist to produce our quarterly newsletter. The editor also requests review books from publishers for the purposes of producing book reviews by club members to be shared in the newsletter. |
Outreach Participant |
We are frequently invited to participate in many community events focused on the environment such as Earth Day or a BioBlitz. At these events, we have a display highlighting the natural role of fungi as well as the diverse activities of our club. It is a wonderful opportunity to talk to interested people. We would love to have new members become involved in these community events. Enthusiasm is more important than expertise. |
Photo Contest Coordinator - Understudy |
Ability to learn how photo contests are done in-person and how they may be held in the future. The Photo Contest previously was held in December. |
Cultivation Demonstrator |
Able to do demonstrations and talks either at Fungus Fest or at forays. |
Fungus Fest Volunteers |
Fungus Fest means a few dozen club members to pull together this big event. Some roles require mushroom expertise, others do not. For many years, this event has been held in September in Morris County. |
