New Jersey Mycological Association data was used for the research paper mentioned above on fungal diversity in NJ. As citizen scientists, we do not have to understand everything in scientific papers like this, we can concentrate on continuing to collect data and posting into iNaturalist.org or MushroomObserver.org where it is accessible to researchers.
NJMA never stopped our forays or data collection through the 2020-2022 period, but we did restrict attendance to members only, and ceased making recent data available publicly. Northeast Mycological Federation Regional Foray - Sept 14 to 17th 2023 at Ukrainian Retreat Center, Kerhonkson, NY. North American Mycological Association Annual Foray - August 24 to 27th 2023 in Hendersonville, NC.
2022 NJMA's Foray season (late June to early November) has ended. Our team of identifiers traveled to 12 different counties [Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Sussex, Warren] to collect and help NJMA members learn to identify fungi using fresh specimens. Foray locations and dates are disclosed only to members! So be sure to join or renew for 2023.
